Fire, marshmallows and happiness!

Updated: Mar 15

A dark, warm night, the bright stars gleaming in the sky, the wood fire crackling in the fire pit, red orange flames warming your hands and your face lit up by the blazing fire.

Everything you need is here in front of you…you just need one more thing more… marshmallows!

These little nuggets of sweet, cloudlike yumminess have been around for over 4,000 years, with the earliest known ones coming from Egypt, when they were used as a medicine. Their name comes from the mallow plant whose roots were used to help treat coughs and indigestion.

Not sure if we can still use this excuse, but there must be something special about the humble marshmallow, as the well being and happiness we feel as it sizzles and melts over the fire pit, transports us into another world!

There is an art of course to the toasting of marshmallows, oozing melted syrup inside and crisp and charred on the outside.. and then of course there is the ultimate skill of delivering them safely into hungry mouths without dropping them into the fire!

Nothing beats it, the delicious smell of burnt sugar, gazing into the flames, being with people you love, away from the hustle and bustle.. let the simple marshmallow transport you to a different world!

PS to celebrate we are giving away packs of marshmallows for stays this month. Please vote if you would like us to extend this giveaway until the end of the year.

I'm not excited about marshmallows, but a selection of herbal teas would please me!
